Unsere Elektronikparty mit berauschenden Synthies, myzelisch-vernetzende Basslines und Leben und Liebe pumpenden Beats, die auch mal gebrochen werden, geht in die zweite Runde. House, Beats, Techno, Bass, Trance – Reconstructed Dancefloor vom Feinsten!
Für die zweite BEACH BENEATH Party haben wir den Ausnahmeelektroniker Dino Spiluttini (Editions Mego, Tortured Anthems / Wien) mit seinen aktuellen Ausflügen in Trance eingeladen! Außerdem gibt’s die Beach Beneath Residents: Amelie Lieb, Ramshackle, HKHKHKHK und eve massacre.
Mit „Death Chants II“ veröffentlicht der österreichische Ausnahmeelektroniker DINO SPILUTTINI gleichermaßen eine Exegese auf die Frage, nach dem Stand und der Funktion von Dancemusic angesichts der aktuellen Verhältnisse zwischen Corona, Klimakrise und Krieg. Funktionieren die „Politics Of Dancing“ noch, oder sind all die Dancefloor-Utopien der 1990er mittlerweile zu dystopischen Alpträumen zerronnen? Dabei zeugt „Death Chants II“ vor allem auch wie (instrumentale) elektronische Musik immer noch politisch sein kann, sofern es ein Bewusstsein für die jeweiligen Verhältnisse und deren Widersprüche gibt.
Reductive club expressionism. Death Chants II marks changes to Spiluttini’s sound and style scarcely hinted at in nominal predecessor Death Chants (2020). Whereas that EP retained the physical modelling, lurching freeform and grave intensity of the LP Heaven (2019), this new collection, performed mainly on a Roland JP-8080 processed by modular synthesis, overtly derives its every element from the divertive ecstasies of club and trance.
These are tracks chiefly of genre materials refined to great succinctness: wetly plucked rubber leads, RnB acapellas lifted to weightless distances, and beats tapped out with only hi-hats. Referential but arranged nonetheless in Spiluttini’s recognisable style, they evoke the emotional range of the club experience, its joys, sorrows, and excesses. What Heaven and Death Chants II thus have in common is their inextricable ties to transcendence. Of the former, it is a tie of congregation and institutional spirituality; of the latter, it is one of physical intensity and hedonism.
